Bio
Ian A. Smith is an audio engineer, composer, and producer residing in the greater Los Angeles area. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry Studies from California State University, Northridge and an Associate in Science degree from Fresno City College in Commercial Music.
His experience as an audio engineer and producer includes work on various live performances as a mixer and technician, and recording projects as recording and mixing engineer in genres ranging from classical to pop to Latin jazz. Ian also works as a composer and arranger, with experience in genres including electronica, modern orchestra, jazz, and new age. His composition and arrangement experience includes commissioned works for artist albums and various media, including TV and video games.
In recent years, he has become an integral part of the live sound team at CSUN’s Soraya performance hall, mixing front-of-house and monitors for various artists. Since 2015, he has been the Technical Director of Bridge to Everywhere, a contemporary classical chamber ensemble based in Los Angeles. He has also worked with groups and organizations such as the LA Master Chorale, LA Chamber Orchestra, and the Lincoln Center in New York in live and recorded mixing and sound design.
